High Caffeine Coffee: Get The Most Caffeine Out Of Coffee

Caffeine is a natural stimulant that affects the brain and nervous system. It has been shown to improve alertness, focus and performance during high-intensity and short-term endurance exercise.

Most people can safely consume 300-400 mg per day, but consumption of more than 600 mg per day is associated with insomnia, restlessness, irritability, high blood pressure, and upset stomach.

Pregnant women should not take more than 200 mg per day, as higher intakes may increase the risk of miscarriage or low birth weight.

But as we have shown, it is difficult to know how much you are consuming. Caffeine isn’t just in coffee. It’s also found in tea, cola, chocolate, energy drinks, and some cold and flu medications, so it’s best to know how much you’re taking.

While most chains use a 100% Arabica blend, those who use a blend of Arabica and Robusta naturally have more caffeine in their drinks.

Coffee and tea expert Giles Hilton told us: “Light and medium roast beans have more caffeine than high roasts because the caffeine burns off at a high roast level.”

The place where the beans are grown can be different: ‘Like wine, different areas produce different characteristics of coffee due to differences in climate, altitude and soil.’ he added.

And no more. Colin Smith, manager of London Smiths Artisan Coffee Roasters, told us: ‘The start time, size and quality, as well as the temperature of the water can affect the final caffeine content. For example, finer grains have higher caffeine content.’
