Ever Present Help In The Time Of Trouble – Psalm 46 is the psalm I turn to when I need encouragement. “God is our security and strength, a constant help in difficult times.” Shelter means shelter or shelter from danger or suffering. Finding shelter is like finding shelter during a storm, or finding refuge and comfort in difficult times. What a joy to find such a place in these stormy and turbulent times.
The question is not do you want or need a place of refuge? Rather, the truth is that you and I always react. The question is: Is the shelter really safe? Most of the things people turn to: food, friends, drugs, our jobs, etc., can provide temporary comfort, but do they really provide safety?
Ever Present Help In The Time Of Trouble
The psalmist also reminds us that God is our strength. Difficult times require strength from us, and very often we try to overcome them on our own. I seem to lack resources, but God has infinite resources. The reason the Psalms are a source of blessing and encouragement is that we remember that God is the source, that He cares for each of us, and that He is there to strengthen us.
Help In Time Of Trouble
Many believe that God must rid us of all our problems and burdens. Everyone mentioned in the Bible who was greatly used by God faced trials and difficulties. Sometimes he takes the situation away from us; He always gives us the grace and strength to persevere and overcome challenges.
Psalm 46:2 says “in distress.” Security and courage when needed. This actually says that help is still there. There are two things that speak to me about this verse. God is always there, whether you see him or not! The verse above says “he is always there”. Wherever you go, He is there with you. And no matter what you face, He knows it. So don’t be afraid! Claim this promise and go to Him whenever something happens. He will strengthen you and help you!
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10)
What can we say about such miracles? If God is for us, who is not against us? Since he did not despise his own Son, but gave him up for us all, will he not give us everything else? Who will accuse us, we are chosen by God among them, because God himself has given us the power to stand before him, who will judge us? He sits at the right hand of God, showing us his compassion.

Can anything separate us from the love of Christ? Does this mean that He no longer loves us when we are in difficulty or misfortune or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death?
