Difference Between It And Computer Science Degree – Congratulations! After months or years of debate, you’ve finally decided to major in computer science. The decision is made and you are on your way as a Seidenberg student. Or so you think. Even if you’ve decided on a CS major, you still have a tough decision to make—which computer science degree is best for you: BA or BS? At other colleges you might only have one option, but here at Pace University we have both, which makes things a little more difficult in some ways. So, before you go ahead and make a decision, there are a few things you should know.
Without comparing the exact course requirements of the two degrees, here is an overview of their key differences.
Difference Between It And Computer Science Degree
The main difference between a BA and a BS in Computer Science is that a BA includes a minor while a BS does not, meaning you must declare a minor to complete your BA. On the other hand, for a Bachelor of Computer Science, you don’t have to declare a minor (but you can if you want!). Keep in mind that it may take longer to do this with a BS because you have more CS-related courses than a BA. Below is a quick comparison between the number of computer science classes you need to take for a BA and a BS.

Just as it’s easy to put together a minor, it’s easy to get a bachelor’s degree in computer science. This is because with a BA, there is more overlap between the classes you need to complete your course requirements. Also, measuring twice with BA is usually less stressful than measuring twice with BS. While it is possible to do this with a BS, be aware that classes for BS majors are more demanding, meaning you may have less room for extracurricular interests.
Note: A double major and a double degree are actually two different things. A double major means studying two majors at the same level. For example, studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Creative Writing is considered a double major. On the other hand, a double degree means providing two majors for two different degrees. A bachelor’s degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in creative writing count as two degrees, meaning you’ll graduate with two separate degrees instead of one. An easy way to remember the difference between the two is that a double major means two majors at the same level and a double degree means two majors at opposite levels.
If you want a more technical job, it’s better to get a bachelor’s degree in computer science. If you want a job that is more creative, a BA might be better for you. Here is a list of jobs you can get with any degree.
Is A Master’s In Computer Science Worth It?
Note: If you are interested in BA but are attracted to a BS job, don’t despair. Depending on the type of degree you have, what you do outside of it may carry more weight. If you have completed a project that relies more on the technical side, be sure to include it on your resume. It shows that you are capable of more than what you learned in school. B.S. ditto for If you have a bachelor’s degree but are interested in any job under the BA category, try to do more creative projects and add it to your resume.

The best thing about DegreeWorks is that it has a “what if” section that lets you see the required course requirements and credits for another major or major that may be of interest to you. To access DegreeWorks, log into the PACE portal with your PACE ID and password. Once logged in, select Degree Works at the bottom left of the screen to be redirected to the system.
At the top of this new page, you’ll see your degree, college, major, and minor on the right, and below you’ll see your current major requirements, as well as the credits and credits you need. The need will come. complete

Time to check the “what if” part. You should see a What If tab in the lower left of the Worksheets tab. Select it and you will see it.
To compare the requirements for a BA and BS in Computer Science, you must fill in Computer Science and Seidenberg as a major for your college, as well as select a degree (either one) and a catalog year. Splitting the screen into two parts can make the comparison process easier. The process may be different for Mac and Windows users.
It is important to remember that this is your decision and only you can make it. It’s easy to get caught up in what other people are doing and what your family wants for you, but you’re doing yourself a disservice to make decisions based on what other people think. If you choose a job you never wanted to do and later change your mind, you can delay the time it takes to graduate. Try to talk to a counselor when making a decision.
